  • Possible Horizon for the Working Group

There was little benefit resulting from the discussion around Paperts LOGO microworlds. (Global expectations and flat promises of unimagined learning achievement are an obstacle for differentiated judgement of possibilities as for these possibilities itself.) And the situation has not really changed until now: The discussion of dangers and limitations of any use of computers in the classroom remains occasional and without pedagogical essence. Mathemati-cally speaking: The axioms of any critical approach remain undiscussed or even anonymous. In this situation the purpose of the working group could be to find out some systematic ques-tions as guidelines for further treatment of the issue.

Therefore we need every contribution you want to present. In our discussion we will not only appreciate each contribution but also go beyond it and try to find out its systematic place within a possible framework of evaluation.

This framework could include aspects like:

  • Versatility as a key concept for the development of students.
  • Short-term efforts must be justified by a long-term horizon of education.
  • Changes of students' abilities by using new methods have to be pedagogically justified.
  • ...
  • Join the experiment!
