More is more? More is less?Does IT really improve the educational process, or does it merely get in the way of communication between teachers and students? Why do so many teachers persistently neglect or even refuse the use of IT in their day-to-day teaching practice - doesn't the great number of successful pilot projects prove that IT enhances the educational process? Drawing mostly on examples from Schools of Baden-Württemberg, and reporting on good as well as poor practice, I shall try to provoke a search for criteria that will be continued in our following sessions. Criteria that are sufficiently complex to be useful, but sufficiently simple to be practical, in order to distinguish between success and failure with IT in teaching.
