Informations on Travelling to Klagenfurt by Plane
General Information
Klagenfurt airport is reachable by direct flights from Vienna,
Frankfurt, Zurich and London Stansted (from June 27 onwards). For details
see below.
From Vienna
Depending on the day there 3-6 daily flights between Klagenfurt and
Vienna (operated by Austrian Airlines). (Currently there
are 6 flights on working days, 3 on Saturdary and 4 on Sunday.)
From Frankfurt
There are 3 daily flights between Klagenfurt and Frankfurt (operated by
Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa).
From London
Ryan Air has announced very cheap
flights from London Stansted to Klagenfurt. They will be available
starting from June 27, 2002.
From Zurich
Until last year, there used to be several daily direct flights between
Klagenfurt and Zurich (operated by Crossair).
Due to the bankrupcy of Swissair, these flights have been cancelled.
At the moment there exists only one daily direct flight between Zurich und
Klagenfurt. This flight is operated by AirDirect (a small private
Austrian company). It offers only 18 places and is rather expensive.
(If demand increases, a second flight might be introduced later.)
Recommendation
Since the airline industry is experiencing
currently a period of economic difficulties and rapid changes,
the availability of flights changes more frequently than usual.
You are thus well-advised to consult a travel agency or one of
the on-line airline information systems listed below at the
time of planning your journey.

Reaching Klagenfurt University from the Airport
You can reach the University either by taxi or
by public transportation. (Note that there
are no buses from the airport to the city on Sunday and late in the evening.)
