  • Philosophy:

Mathematics teachers must accept their responsibility to make lifelong learning part of their professional being. Utilizing information technology in the teaching process requires continued professional development due to it?s changing nature. At the same time, government funding agents, businesses, professional associations, and educational institutions must also accept the responsibility of providing professional development opportunities for teachers at reasonable or no costs. Further, teacher employers must provide incentives for teachers to partake in lifelong learning.

  • Working Group Activity:

The Continued Professional Development Working Group will analyze and summarize professional development programs designed for mathematics teachers from middle school through college. We are accepting speaker proposals from anyone interested in sharing information about their program and contributing to a paper analyzing the state of continued professional in the area of information technology. Papers or reports on continued professional development programs should address, but are not limited to, integrating hand-held technology in the teaching process, using the Internet in the teaching of mathematics, on-line professional development, and using computing devices to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Call for Papers:

At this time, we extend to you an invitation to submit a paper describing your continued professional development program. Samples of anticipated papers: programs for mathematics teachers for a single educational institution, regional programs for maths teachers, programs for specific mathematics levels, programs for specific technology, programs for graduate student TA?s, funding agent programs (business or government), etc.

  • Paper Submission:

Please submit papers on continued professional development in English to the chair via an email attachment too - see Contributor Information page and the Presentation form.
