karl.fuchs@sbg.ac.at The influence of computers on Mathematics Education has increased rapidly throughout the last years but Educational research has been concentrated on the use of tools such as computer-algebra-systems or spreadsheets. As the teaching-models supported by these tools have mainly used predefined functions models for programming and models for the use of general purpose languages more and more have said good bye to the educational discussion simultaniously. But on the other hand the number of researchers in Mathematics Education who have been pointing out the importance of teaching data- (lists, matrices) and program-structures (iteration, if-clauses) to the students even when they were using tools has increased because they are convinced that the knowledge of these structures will provide deeper insight into when using these tools. Therefore this special group is addressed to Educational researchers and teachers who ...
have prepared models for teaching programming in a general purpose languages or specific tools in standard courses in school or universityhave held special courses such as Informatics Olympiads for gifted students at school or universityhave held these courses in programming within a spreadsheet- or within a computer-algebra-systems-environmenthave designed and programmed special Educational software to support Mathematics Teaching at different levels based on tools or general-purpose-languages and who ....
