IWM VERB 5.0
The PC program IWM VERB supports the user in assessing components with defects. It is an assessment tool based on methods of elastic and elastic-plastic fracture mechanics (R6 or GE/EPRI Method), whi ich allows quick analyses of the influence of defects on the integrity of components under constant and cyclic loading. The Type of Calculation menu offers goals of the analysis, which can be calculati on ofcritical loads for given crack geometrycritical crack sizes for service or emergency conditionssafety margins for given cracks and loads in a R6 type of diagramfatigue crack growth under cyclic l oadsleak areas. The File, Page, and Graph menus can be used for saving, retrieving, displaying, and printing of input data and results. From the Calculate menu a Single Calculation or a Parameter Study can be started. The present version 5.0 is a Windows update of the DOS version 4.8 of the program VERB (German abbreviation standing for failure assessment of cracked components) developed at Fraunho fer-Institut f¸r Werkstoffmechanik (IWM) in Freiburg. The target group for this program are specialists in research, education and industry.
