Formale Aufbereitung:
Mit wenigen und oft auch einfachsten Mitteln versuchen die Protagonisten dieser Ansammlung wildester Sketche, ihre Sicht der Dinge zu übermitteln. Die Zusammenkunft der fünf völlig unterschiedlichen Charaktere bewirkt eine explosive Mischung, was Inhalt und Form betrifft. Der typisch britische, rabenschwarze Humor wird auf die Spitze getrieben durch eine Respektlosigkeit allem und jedem gegenüber, die gleichzeitig schockierend und befreiend wirkt. Dies ist der letzte Film von Monty Python, zum Kult geworden wie die Fernseh-Serie. Und als visuelles Erkennungszeichen fungiert nach wie vor die völlig überdrehte Animationsmaschinerie von Terry Gilliam, dem einzigen Amerikaner in der englischen Truppe.

Beschreibung:
In ihrem letzten Film kehrt die englische Komikertruppe zur episodischen Struktur ihrer Fernsehserie zurück. Die satirische Nummernrevue versucht den Sinn des Lebens von der Wiege bis zur Bahre, in allen Lebenslagen und in allen Gesellschaftsschichten aufzuspüren. Die Komik reicht von sanfter Ironie bis zu vulgärem Klamauk und nimmt in teils intelligenter, teils infantiler Form mit Vorliebe heilige Kühe ins Visier - Obrigkeit und Ärzteschaft, Kirche und abendländische Philosophie -, artet dabei aber stellenweise in Tabuverletzung und Zerstörungswut aus. Handwerklich professionell und visuell einfallsreich.
