Smart Reader is an O.C.R. System based on a combination of algorythms ofsupervised and unsupervised learning, using Neural Networks.The systemimplements an innovative idea of feature extraction and le etter splittingof strings.The system is designed for the recognition of capital letters, no matterwhich kind of document (printed, typed or hand-written).In the training process, the author had used m ore than 30 different fonts,so that the system has a great adaptability.Today" s average accuracy of the system (on test data) is 93,1%.The next steps for improving the performance of Smart Reader are :- perfecting the system of features extraction and filtering- optimizating the software and improving the speed of analysis- implementing a spell-check system and a natural language processor- implem enting a dynamic learning system.
