SAM 3.0 for Windows

"SAM 3.0 for Windows" offers powerful and easy motion and force analysis of arbitrary 2D-mechanisms. It ombines the proven robustness of the original DOS version with the user-friendliness of the Win dows environment and is an indispensable tool for any engineer, teacher or student involved in conceptual mechanism design. Currently, SAM is already being used by almost 35 universities and other ed ucational institutes throughout Europe and by a large number of companies.Mechanisms are created interactively in a CAD-like manner using a library of basic elements, including beam, slider, belt, gea r, sensor, spring, damper and friction elements. The unique mathematical foundation of the program, which was developed at the Delft University of Technology, offers interesting features and overcome s many of the problems of traditional mechanism programs. Open loop, closed loop and even multiple loop mechanisms are treated indentical and even complex planetary gear trains can be modeled within m inutes.Multiple independent inputs can be defined either by combining standard input motion laws or by using an ASCII motion file. Nodal positions, displacements, velocities, accelerations, angles, an gular velocities and accelerations can be calculated. Furthermore a kinetostatics analysis of linkage mechanisms can be performed, yielding driving torque (force), reaction forces, internal linkage fo rces and required motor power. Any variable can be plotted against time or any other variable. An unlimited number of functions can be combined into one x/y plot with optionally two different scalings . The motion ofa mechanism can be animated and the path and velocity hodograph of any number of moving points can be displayed.
