Functional Laryngology - Laryngeal Diseases

The submitted program focuses on the larynx and the speech organs, but overall it is planned to cover the entire ENT-field. It can be described as an encyclopaedic program, and is aimed at students of f medicine and speech pathology. It is developed on a Macintosh computer and contained in SuperCard.Tentatively called "Functional Laryngology", it will eventually comprise 9 areas, and one of them, "Laryngeal disorders", has been in use for a few months. This program includes text, images of pathological conditions, as well as sound recordings and analyses of hoarse voices. It has been tried out on medical students as an integral part of their training at Malm– University Hospital. The students have filled in a questionnaire, where they can air their views on the program, and these suggestio ns will be taken into consideration for future versions. It has also been presented at The fifth Nordic Conference on Computer Aided Learning in Stockholm, August 1995. The Swedish Council of Renewa l of Undergraduate Education in conjunction with the Medical Faculty of the University of Lund, have supported the project financially.
